Chris is passionate about making more people aware of the huge shortage of foster carers and wrote a moving song to encourage more people to consider the rewards of foster care.
Welcome Home tells the story of a child who hasn't had a good experience of Christmas and wants someone to take them home, and then their wishes are answered and they get a new family.
On the day there were over a hundred people in the choir and what a wonderful sight to see such a big range of ages all joyfully singing together in their finest Christmas sweaters.
WELCOME HOME
Christmas past is not a happy story
With memories not of gifts and twinkling lights
A lonely heart hears other children’s stories
But Santa won’t be coming Christmas night
Lying in the darkness where a prayer begins to form
‘Is there someone out there to keep me warm?’
Welcome home this Christmas, welcome home
Welcome to our family, welcome home
Come into a place where you are able to belong
Listen to the angels sing their Christmas, hope-filled song
Come on in,
Close the door
Welcome home.
Let us help rewrite your Christmas story
With turkey, hats and crackers to delight
Board games causing smiles and raucous laughter
This will be a different Christmas night!
Lying in the darkness where a prayer is almost song
‘Thank you for this family where I belong’
On 9th November, we were interviewed by BBC Radio Kent and ITV Meridian about what we hoped the song might achieve and on 19th November BBC Breakfast sent a crew to one of the choir rehearsals.
We are so thankful to Nic and Chris Kimmance for helping promote the need for more foster carers and we hope to get lots of enquiries from people who are moved to foster and a Christmas number one might be nice too!
The single will be available to download soon and we will share the link as soon as we can.
