The number of children needing foster care in England is estimated to rise by a third within the next decade and to meet this increase agencies need to prepare by increasing the number of carers who can give these children a home.
Diagrama Fostering provides foster carers across south London and the Southeast and is looking to recruit and train additional foster carers to meet this increasing demand.
Margaret Gardiner, Fostering and Adoption Team Manager, Diagrama, said “One of the side effects of the pandemic is that Diagrama is receiving more referrals than ever for children needing safe and secure placements. Recruiting and retaining enough committed, competent foster carers, with the skills, capacity, motivation, resilience, and support to provide children with what they need to thrive remains a continual and growing challenge.
“We need a range of foster carers, because each child that Diagrama supports comes with their own uniqueness and needs. What we want from a foster carer is someone with a heart for a child who wants to be able to give children an opportunity in life.”
Diagrama foster carers benefit from round the clock support, free professional training, and excellent benefitsand create a brighter future for children and make a real difference by offering them stability and routine within normal family life.
The Diagrama team asked some of the children in their care to tell them what they want from a foster carer. You can hear their hopes and wishes about what is important to them in a video which Diagrama hopes will encourage people to start the fostering journey.
