Diagrama Foundation has been welcoming prospective adopters and foster carers to its new offices at a former airport in Croydon.
The UK charity, which supports vulnerable children and adults, recently moved its adoption and fostering services into Airport House, on Purley Way, Croydon. Diagrama is now planning to hold regular information evenings and training sessions for people interested in fostering or adopting a child in care.
Diagrama’s adoption and fostering service aims to find loving homes for vulnerable children, with a particular focus on those who are considered harder to place. This may be because they are older, part of a sibling group, have additional needs or ethnic minority heritage.
The offices were previously located close by in Russell Hill Road, Purley, in offices owned by Croydon Council.
Diagrama Chief Executive David McGuire said: “The move to Airport House marks an exciting new chapter for our adoption and fostering service. We can now provide a modern and comfortable meeting environment for our guests and look forward to welcoming visitors soon.”
Airport House, formerly known as Croydon Airport, was the first airport in the world to introduce air traffic control and was London’s first major airport in 1916. Croydon Airport hung up its pilot hat in 1959 and is now a bustling business centre accommodating more than 300 individual businesses.
Diagrama’s next information evening, for people interested in finding out more about adoption, will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, from 6.30-8.30pm.
Diagrama is currently recruiting new and experienced foster carers. Comprehensive training and 24/7 support is provided as well as a generous weekly payment and holiday cover.
