oin us for a special celebration!
The Rt Revd James Langstaff, Bishop of Rochester, will host a celebration of fostering and adoption at Rochester Cathedral on 29 June, 11.00am. The special child-friendly service will celebrate the dedication and love shown by fostering and adoptive families and those considering it for the future and demonstrate to fostered and adopted children how welcome they are in our community. There will also be a special performance from Jack Holton, an experienced operatic singer.
The service is part of an innovative project between fostering and adoption charity Home for Good, the Diocese of Rochester and Diagrama Foundation to raise the profile of fostering and adoption within communities and encourage more people to explore whether fostering and adoption is for them.
Bishop James said: “This celebration is for everyone, as we all have a role to play in ensuring that children fostered or adopted in our community are fully welcomed. I have found it hugely encouraging to see this work develop and to sense the enthusiasm and interest among many people. It is my prayer that as a result of this project many vulnerable children will find homes for good where they experience welcome, care and love.”
Dr Krish Kandiah, Home for Good founder and director, said: “We want to celebrate foster carers and adopters who can be underappreciated in our society for the incredible role they play in the lives of the children they care for. They make huge sacrifices to do what they do, and we want to recognise and thank them for that.” David McGuire, CEO of Diagrama Foundation, “There is as great a need as ever for more people to step forward to become foster carers or adopters. We also need to recognise and support those who have already opened their homes to children. We want to demonstrate that if you take the step to welcome a child into your home there is a community of support around you."
