Diagrama is launching a new drive to find foster carers in response to a recent surge in the number of children in care needing a safe and secure home.
The not-for-profit agency, rated Good by Ofsted, will hold its first monthly online information event later this month, on November 17, for people to find out more about becoming a foster carer.
The agency, which is recruiting carers across the whole of the south east - from Hampshire to London and Kent – believe people who may have overlooked fostering as a career choice in the past could now be open to reconsidering their options.
David McGuire, chief executive of Diagrama Foundation, the charity which runs Diagrama Fostering, said: “This year has been difficult for many people, in different ways. For some, they have found themselves reassessing their priorities in life and for others their careers have taken an unexpected turn.
“Fostering is often overlooked as a career choice – yet the rewards and job satisfaction cannot be underestimated. The majority of our foster carers currently have children in long-term placements with them and they are able to offer the children the stability and security they desperately need to thrive.
All our foster carers receive extensive training both at the outset and on an ongoing basis, offering people the chance to acquire valuable skills for life.”
Thousands of children in England are in desperate need of a safe and secure foster home.
Diagrama is looking for people that feel they could be a good role that children and young people can look up to, someone who has their best interests at heart.
Diagrama foster carers benefit from exceptional round-the-clock support, free professional training and excellent benefits.
The monthly events explain more about the fostering application process and how the agency makes sure foster carers are matched with the right child or children for their family – so that everyone thrives.
Attendees will also hear about:
• the vulnerable children in need of fostering
• the different types of fostering
• the fostering assessment process
• the role of a foster carer
• Diagrama's comprehensive support service
• why Diagrama is the fostering agency of choice
Diagrama works with foster carers from all walks of life. Not sure if you can foster? Find more information on who can foster here.
Each online event will start with a brief presentation, with foster carers sharing their experiences and an opportunity to ask questions. The events will last up to 2 hours and take place via Zoom.
